Abdomen & Core: The Center Isn’t Just Your Abs
“Core” usually makes people think of crunches.
Anatomically, it’s much more interesting.
Rectus abdominis, internal and external obliques, transversus abdominis, diaphragm, quadratus lumborum and other structures contribute to trunk control and breathing.
Abdominal massage requires clear consent and may not be appropriate for every client or every condition. When included, I approach the region gently and communicate throughout.
Often, however, core-related work can happen indirectly through the ribs, hips, low back and breathing mechanics.
The purpose isn’t to make your abdominal muscles “loose.”
Your core needs tension—it creates stability.
We’re exploring whether that tension can be adaptable rather than permanently switched on.
