Shoulders & Shoulder Blades: Creating Space for Movement

Your shoulder is less like a simple hinge and more like an extraordinarily coordinated floating system.
The trapezius, rhomboids, levator scapulae and serratus anterior position the shoulder blade while the rotator cuff helps control the arm inside the shoulder joint.
That means the place that hurts isn’t always the place doing the most interesting thing.
During a shoulder-focused Sagewind session, I may first observe how your shoulder rests and moves. Massage can then travel across the upper back, scapular borders, rotator cuff and surrounding tissues.
With permission and when appropriate, moving the arm or shoulder blade while contacting a muscle can make the work much more specific.
I particularly like combining massage with movement here. Instead of treating you like something lying motionless on a table, we can occasionally ask the shoulder to participate.
The question becomes:
Can this shoulder discover an easier way to move?
